Once again the IG algorithm has deemed my artwork as “inappropriate”:( Boooooooooooo

It’s almost as if the platform is just reinforcing this idea that we should be ashamed of our bodies which is beyond frustrating.

BUT they can’t censor the whole internet so I am grateful to have a space where I can share the full spectrum of my Art!

SO, I attended a workshop with one of my absolute FAVORITE photographic artists, Kara Marie! Participating in one of her workshops has literally been on my vision board for years! She lives in Italy now so I thought it wouldn’t happen for a little while but I got SO blessed and lucky that she came over here for WPPI (photography convention) and put on a workshop right here in Las Vegas! Thank you Universe!!!

The workshop was all about the world of Fine Art Nude photography.

We had the most amazing and beautiful souls as our models and I am absolutely obsessed with the images we created together.

I also connected with some AMAZING photographers from around the country. It was truly a day of sisterhood, community, and artistic FREEDOM!

The first thing we were taught is to take all the photography “rules” and throw them out the window:)

Especially around the conventional idea of what “boudoir photography” is: “pretty/sexy pictures a woman can gift to her partner.”

Also completely throwing out the idea that certain poses can hide/mask “problem areas”, or ways to pose the body to hide rolls and folds, etc.

I mean, who even decided that these parts of our body aren’t “ok”.

We talked about how in the renaissance era, it was the more voluptuous women that were the sought after to be the muses of the artists, in paintings and sculptures.

Seeing through a new lens and perspective we can absolutely reprogram the way we see ourselves…

AND our amazing bodies! I truly believe that’s what THIS work is all about:)

From the Artist’s viewpoint, when it all comes down to it, we are just curves and lines and light and shadow….

from the Artist’s viewpoint, we are all just ART… and it is simply glorious:)

We played around with the light and the shadow, and with slowing down the shutter speed to create blur and movement…

We played with different vantage points, different crops, and shining Light on the areas we are taught to hide…

I became even more obsessed with fabric and texture as Kara introduced me to the fabric “cheesecloth” (used for table runners apparently). I couldn’t stop using it! So of course I ordered some immediately when I got home that night LOL.

No wardrobe was needed

No hair and makeup was needed either

Just bodies… and the beautiful souls that live inside… expressing how bodies and souls express..

This whole experience has planted a seed for a new type of session I want to offer

called “This is ME” … where Less IS more…

Make sure you are following me on IG if you wanna hear more about this and/or wanna be a part of it!!
